Cindy Grisdela 2010

This is my newest work in process–as yet unnamed. I was thinking about calling it “Mirage” because the colors and shapes seem to shift when you look at it, but I’ll have to ponder that while I’m quilting it. I did a piece similar to this one a number of years ago and it has been sold, so I decided to do a different version for my upcoming solo show —Color Abstraction–at Maison du Vin in Great Falls. The show runs from December 15, 2010 through February 15, 2011 and I’m busy getting everything ready to hang. This is the only one still in process–I hope.

I’m going to quilt this one with my favorite circular swirl design with a variegated thread in autumn colors. There’s so much going on in the fabric and the design in this one that the quilting will probably take a back seat, but that’s OK. I think it’s good to let the fabric take the lead sometimes! It’s a largish quilt–probably will end up being about 30″ high x 52″ wide.

Check back in a week or two when I hope to have the quilting completed and if you have a better idea for a name, let me know!
