Amber Harvest Cindy Grisdela 2009

I’m excited to announce that two of my quilts, Amber Harvest and Intuition, have been juried into the Naples Contemporary Craft Exhibition to be held at the Longstreth-Goldberg Art Gallery in Naples, Fl. The show will run from March 25- June 25, 2011, with an opening reception on March 25 from 6-10 PM. Click on the link above for more information about the gallery and the show.

Intuition Cindy Grisdela 2010

These two pieces share a common inspiration, using one large improvisationally pieced block as the focal point. Amber Harvest has a minimalist approach, just the block surrounded by large asymmetrical borders and defined by echo lines for the furrows and pebble quilting for the seeds. Intuition came later and introduces wonky stripes and large areas of dense free motion quilting in several different motifs. If you right-click on the image, you’ll be able to see the stitching more clearly. I also used several different greens in this one–the darker rectangle on the upper right shows up more in a photograph than it does in life.
