"Assorted Marbles" unquilted top Cindy Grisdela 2011

“Assorted Marbles” is Day 28 of my art quilt a day for the month of March project.

I’m really looking forward to seeing all of the Marbles pieces hung together! There’s a great deal of unity in the simplicity of the designs and the strong colors–I think they work as a series best of the group.

I’m proud of the fact that all of these pieces–28 now–use individual compositions. Each day is something new. Of course, some work better than others–I knew that going into the project. It was very difficult for me to put the ones I considered less successful out there, but interesting that some visitors found something to like about each one of them!

We’re coming down to the end now–I’ll post the last two pieces tomorrow!

If you’re new to the project, I challenged myself to create one art quilt a day for the month of March. Each piece is 16″x20,” uses only solid fabrics, and is entirely pieced by machine, not fused. I’ll choose the best of them, quilt them and mount them on stretcher bars, and show them in an exhibit later this year. I’m posting nearly every day on my progress, so check back often! My inspiration was fellow artist Jill Banks deciding in January to paint 100 faces in 100 days. Click on her name to see her progress as well.
