Mountain Lake blue green wall hanging

“Mountain Lake” 2014 Cindy Grisdela

I’m packing up and getting ready to get on the road for the American Fine Craft Show at the Brooklyn Museum this weekend. The show runs from 12-6 on Saturday and 11-6 on Sunday.

And I was notified today that my work was featured along with several other artists in the show in an online article on www.examiner.com–click here to go to the site and have a look. It gives good insight into what you’ll see at the show, as well as the process the artists go through to craft their creations.

I’ve got some new pieces since my last show, including Burst of Orange pictured in the previous post, and Mountain Lake at left. Mountain Lake is 20″ x 16″ and mounted on painted black canvas. The improvisational strips in the center reminded me of the depths of a lake–the way you can sometimes see through the water to rocks or creatures on the bottom, but they’re shimmery and indistinct. The image is reinforced with texture in echoing swirls that I stitched onto the design. If you right-click on the image, you can see the texture better.

I’m excited about this show–it’s my first time doing it and it’s in an absolutely gorgeous venue inside the Brooklyn Museum in Brooklyn, NY. What a fantastic backdrop for the work of 90 artists–and you can take one of those pieces home if you see something you want to purchase!

Admission to the show is $12, and that lets you see the museum collection as well, so you can make a day of it. I’ll be in Booth 74 and I’d love to see you if you’re in the area and have a chance to stop by!
