MPA Artfest 2011 Cindy Grisdela

It was uncharacteristically cold and wet for the MPA Artfest yesterday, so I was doubly appreciative of all those who braved the elements to visit me at the show! Note the hay on the floor of my tent to make the footing more secure.

This photo was taken right before the show opened. I always promise myself that I’ll get photos with people in them at shows, but then I get busy talking and don’t remember to do it. Next time I’ll write myself a note.

This was my fourth year at this show and it’s always fun to reconnect with people who come back each year. I enjoy the stories they tell me about how the pillow they bought brightened the day of a lucky recipient or the quilt they hung in their home that adds some cheerful warmth to the room.

I got a lot of positive comments from visitors about my new work. This was the first time I’ve shown some of my “30 days” pieces in a large group and I was pleased with the result!   If you’re new to the project, I challenged myself to design 30 quilts in the month of March 2011. For more details, click on the March 2011 button in the Archives on the right hand toolbar. I’ll have all of them on display in two weeks during the Great Falls Studios 8th Annual Studio Tour Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15 and 16. I can’t wait to see how they look. Visit www.greatfallsstudios.com to download a brochure and register to win a gift certificate. I hope to see you there!

Cindy, your tent looked great at MPAartfest! The beautiful colors of your quilts really popped under the gray skies. We were all impressed with the great turnout, despite the weather.

Thanks so much! The Artfest is always one of my favorite shows of the year.
