Craftboston Spring Booth 2013 Cindy Grisdela

Craftboston Spring Booth 2013 Cindy Grisdela

My booth is all set up at Craftboston, ready for the preview party tonight and opening tomorrow at 10 AM!

This is an amazing show with so many talented artists–well worth a trip if you’re near the Boston area this weekend. It’s held at the Seaport World Trade Center at 200 Seaport Blvd. Hours are 10-6 Friday and Saturday and 11-5 on Sunday. I’m in Booth 236 and I’d love to see you if you have a chance to stop by!

It’s always a challenge to set up a booth at a show–some artists I know set it up in their living room before the show so they’ll know exactly where everything goes–but I’ve found that it’s better for me to do it at the show itself. There are so many variables to consider once you’re actually on site. Plus I’m usually too busy finishing up the last few pieces to take the time to set up the booth ahead of time! This time was no different. I drove up yesterday and dropped off my booth and my art, then went to my hotel and put the finishing touches on the last quilt.

This show was a bit more of a challenge to set up than usual though, because I decided after the Baltimore Craft Show in February to invest in a new display system from Propanel, so my booth would look more professional, and this show is the first time I’ve used it. I did set it up at home once, so I would know how to do it, but of course once I got here I changed my mind and used a different configuration than what I had originally planned–see above.

Overall I’m happy with it, but it did take quite a bit longer to set up.  I got it up just in time for the jurying that happens right before the (ticketed) preview party from 6-9 PM tonight. Whew! I have wall pieces, my new table runners, and pillows, plus a selection of journal covers and eyeglass cases–something for everyone, I hope.

Finally, I’ve decided to donate 10% of sales this weekend to a relief fund for victims of the tragedy at the Boston Marathon this week.
