I’m excited to be teaching at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, TX this year. The Festival is definitely on! Pre-registration for classes ends October 6, so you have a few more days to sign up.

I’ll be teaching two classes–Take the Fear out of Curved Piecing, and Improv Color Blocks.

Take the Fear Out of Curved Piecing will be held on Monday, October 30 from 6-9 PM. In this class we’ll learn how to make improvisational curved blocks with no templates and no pinning. It’s amazing how easy it is! You’ll be able to create a table runner or small wall hanging in no time. And I’m offering kits, so you don’t have to bring your own fabrics unless you want to. On Tuesday, October 31, I’ll be teaching Improv Color Blocks from 2-5 PM. This is a no-sew fusing class. We’ll create small improvisational blocks log cabin style with fusible web and iron them onto a background to create original designs. Each quilt will be as unique as its maker! There will also be a kit for this class with prefused fabric, so you can get started right away if you don’t want to worry about bringing your own fabric. This is a great technique that can be applied to any size quilt, or you can use it to make table runners or pillows. Click here to go to the Tuesday classes registration page.

Here’s my schedule for the other events I’ll be doing during Festival:

  • Thursday, November 2 – Open Studio: Fun with Improv Blocks 10 AM – 12 PM
  • Thursday, November 2 – Artful Improv Book Signing at Craftsman’s Touch Booth #822 2 – 3 PM
  • Friday, November 3 – Open Studio: Design an Abstract Landscape with Curved Strips, 12 – 2 PM
  • Friday, November 3 – Meet the Teacher: Artful Improv, 4 – 4:30 PM

I’m looking forward to this and I hope to see you there!

And if you’re in the Albuquerque area, or know someone who is, I’ll be exhibiting my work at the Rio Grande Balloon Fiesta shows coming up October 6-8 and 13-15!
